The product of a restless soul and a slightly warped sense of humour, I am a self-taught freelance travel photographer based in Cape Town. I grew up in South Africa and moved back in December 2009 after working in London for 12 years. It took me that long to accept that the British weather isn’t going to improve any time soon but it also allowed me the time to hone my skill, travel extensively, thicken my skin and learn some humility. Though not necessarily in that order. During my time in London I also worked regularly as a video cameraman and had the dubious pleasure of filming publicity interviews with many Hollywood A-listers when they were in town to promote their latest releases.

In addition to travel photography I have been known to put pen to paper, the results of which can be enjoyed on my published writing page. My latest venture has been delving into the creation of scenic time-lapse videos. Patiently shot in RAW using a stills camera and then laboriously post-processed into glorious full HD video the results can be enjoyed on my time-lapse videos page. I am presently pursuing two personal projects: the self-explanatory ‘Landscapes in Moonlight’ and a collection of architectural shots of ceilings and roofs tentatively called ‘Look Up’.

When I’m not behind my cameras or tethered to my laptop I can usually be found trying to wangle an upgrade at the check-in desk or hiking somewhere on one of Cape Town’s mountains. My miscellaneous qualifications include fluent French, an honours degree in Business Science, a (lapsed) pilot’s license, a black belt in karate as well as a musical penchant, an erudition in prankstership and an ongoing tutelage in the lessons of life.

My travels have taken me to over 60 countries to date. Someday I hope to visit all the rest…
